Active job posting:

Superintendent

Fort Lee Public Schools, Bergen County

The Fort Lee Board of Education is seeking an accomplished and visionary leader who will be dedicated to our students, staff, and community in order to build a bright future for all of The Bridgemen in our exciting and diverse pK-12 school district.

Our District serves the children and community of Fort Lee, on the Palisades of the Hudson River, where the George Washington Bridge links New Jersey to New York City.  Home to more than 40,000 residents, historic and modern Fort Lee encompasses approximately 2.6 square miles and boasts a diverse culture, impressive infrastructure & building developments, and a lively downtown.

Our student body of approximately 4000 pupils, many of whom speak multiple languages, is large and diverse.  We offer a rigorous, well-rounded curriculum and learning experience for all our students.  Our District comprises four K-4 schools, one pK-4 school, a grades 5 & 6 intermediate school, a grades 7 & 8 middle school, and one comprehensive high school.  Our high school is academically strong and also provides rich non-academic offerings for students to prepare them well for the college and career track of their choosing.  High school students are able to join specialized academies, such as Theater Arts, Finance, Teaching, Vocational Trades, and the International Baccalaureate program, with AP/IB courses across most subjects.  Our K-12 programs feature STEAM, music, art, and integrated social-emotional learning.  We offer gifted programs for our K-6 students, and honors courses begin in middle school and expand in high school.

Social emotional activities are woven throughout our school day.  Reboot, a program that engages students in mindfulness exercises, is implemented in grades K-4.  At the middle school, we implement a peer mentor program using the Wingman Project.  We provide bilingual services, specialized support for students with disabilities, a preschool program, and "The Fortress," serving eligible students aged 18-21.  Every student in Fort Lee Public Schools is supported with comprehensive resources and opportunities so that they can achieve their full potential.

As a District, we are intent on partnering with families and community, including our supportive PTA and PTOs, active SEPAG, and parent advisory groups.  Our town is very supportive of our robust sports programs, which imbue the pride of our community.  We are dedicated to staff development, offering a range of professional learning opportunities in a comprehensive PD program which equips staff to address diverse student needs and uphold safety and support standards across the District.

We support our programming with a budget of $99.8 million and 421 of certificated / 213 non-certificated employees, and a team of 26 administrators.

Candidates who are interested in leading the Fort Lee Public School District must have a vision for achievement of personal growth among students and faculty, a transparent and collaborative communication style, strong leadership skills, a high level of financial acumen, and be a compassionate, empathetic individual.  The Superintendent of Fort Lee Public Schools must have a strong presence in our community, attending school and town wide events, and must be a team player with all of the organizations and people who empower our District and town to uniquely Be Fort Lee.

NJ School Administrator Certificate or CE is required.  School administrator experience at the district or building level is required.  Classroom teaching experience preferred.

Salary range is $200- $275K, subject to actual qualifications, experience, credentials, and negotiations. Salary commensurate with experience and subject to approval by the Bergen County Executive Superintendent of Schools and the Fort Lee Board of Education.
