The Hardyston Township Public School District Board of Education is seeking an accomplished, caring, dedicated, and passionate individual to serve as our Superintendent and as the educational leader of our community.

We are proud of our increasing levels of student achievement.  In 2025, Hardyston Elementary School achieved the #1 ranking in the County for NJSLA test scores and growth.  Hardyston Middle School students achieved first place ranking in the middle school Academic Bowl competition held in Sussex County.  Our District Goals focus on elevating academic excellence and student engagement, as well as sustaining parent & community engagement and a healthy climate & culture throughout the District.  In Hardyston Township Schools, students explore real-world challenges, collaborate on projects, and develop essential skills such as problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork.  Our collaborative team of educators ensures that every student has the opportunity to develop skills that vital to for future academic and career success.

We are searching for a Superintendent who will be an excellent communicator with our students, community, staff, and all school stakeholders.  We desire candidates with a strong understanding of PreK-8 curriculum, a high level of financial acumen, and experience in successfully implementing a strategic plan.  We are looking for a visible, dedicated, visionary, and forward-thinking leader who will build on our successes and propel us to new heights while honoring the needs and traditions of our unique community.  Our District serves approximately 620 students from PreK through eighth grade via an elementary school and a middle school.  Our $16.5m budget supports 72 certificated and 58 non-certificated faculty and staff; and an administrative team of six, comprising a full-time Business Administrator, Elementary School Principal, Middle School Principal, Director of Special Education, and Technology Coordinator along with the Superintendent. 

NJ School Administrator Certificate or CE is required.  A background of 5 years or more as a successful school principal or in a district-level administrative position is required; experience as an Assistant Superintendent or Superintendent highly desired.  Classroom teaching experience below the college/university level required; ten years teaching or more strongly preferred.   We strongly desire PreK-8 school district and special education experience; earned doctorate preferred.  All candidates who successfully meet the above requirements will be closely considered; applicants capable of a shared services arrangement may also be considered. 

Position start date:  July 1, 2026 [target]

Anticipated salary range $152,000--$168,000.  The Hardyston Township BOE will offer a competitive benefits package including sick leave, vacation days, personal days, health insurance, dental / vision insurance, life insurance, retirement contributions and professional membership dues. The total compensation package will be regionally competitive and based on successful experience; all of the above is subject to negotiation with the HTBOE and approval by the Executive County Superintendent for Sussex County and the HTBOE.
